<h2 style="box-sizing: inherit; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.5rem; font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 24px; color: #1d1d1d; font-size: 1.25rem; background-color: #ffffff;">GLADIATOR trolling reel</h2> The Gladiator Reel was born from the will and a project of the expert technician Sergio Riccò, who was born in Modena but soon emigrated to Venezuela. Back in Italy at the end of the 1960s his passion for the sea combined with some Venezuelan deep-sea fishing experiences led him, since in those years there was a lack of specific products for Big Game, to design and build the Gladiator reel. After a few years of testing (which was followed by patent application nr. 31039) and excellent practical results he began the production of the Gladiator also assisted by other collaborators. Some time later Mr. Ricò thought of contacting Carlo D'Olivo president of Italcanna to improve the commercial diffusion of the product, and shortly after in the 1970s Mr. D'Olivo personally became part of the Gladiator company and then took it over completely a few years later upon the death of his friend Sergio. For all these years the Gladiator company produced highly specialized equipment for deep-sea fishing such as rings, handles, etc. The Gladiator has over time always stood out for its simplicity of operation and elegance, and was the first reel in the world with an electric contact sound beacon for shoaling (it could operate the boat siren or other electric means - 1st prize Spoga Koln 1979 - Germany). In the following years due to a strong demand for the product, production agreements were also made with other companies that further improved the quality level. The reel GLADIATOR is the perfect match for Italcanna rods and together they have won over the years numerous Italian, European and World Championships (as visible in the news area) as well as several catch records. Technique, experience but also deep passion for sea fishing are therefore at the basis of a Gladiator reel that is now made of anti-corrosion alloy and stainless steel (on high-speed bearings) and is a real strong point on the market for lightness, performance and reliability. Every single computer-designed component is then made on extremely precise machining centers, and using it you will appreciate the innovative lever non-return system (by means of a free wheel) and the easy adjustment of a cam-driven carbon clutch that does not allow for errors from over-tightening or wigging due to full spool release. The special off-center ergonomic handle made of reinforced abs allows not only a better grip, but also makes it easier to hold because it is always upright, as well as transmitting more power to the axle. The elegance of the nickel/anti-corodal contrasts is enhanced by laser engravings that will not fade or fade over time. New model with special Mirror Treatment that gives the reel a pleasing shiny chrome appearance.Completely renewed in aesthetics and materials, the new gladiator reel replaces the previous version from which it differs in construction simplicity, weight reduced by one-third, practicality of use, cutting-edge materials, high aesthetic level and also technological innovations on the non-return system (free wheel) and clutch lever guided by means of a cam (patented systems)that prevents any wigs of the line and the accidental complete tightening of the spool. It is completely constructed of light alloy and stainless steel with an elegant off-center ergonomic handle that makes it easier to grip and allows more power to be transmitted to the shaft. It also has an outstanding new carbon clutch that is very stable and progressive even after many hours of work, all bearings and springs are stainless steel, anti-corrosion treatment superior to the standard used in this industry, laser engraving.
