The Leppa is a metal jig with a flattened shape; not for nothing does Leppa, in Sardinian dialect, mean "knife," and in fact its physiognomy is very reminiscent of that of a dagger.The particularly flat and aerodynamic shape, combined with the center of gravity shifted to the rear, allow it surprising casts. In the retrieve it allows many customizations: it manages to guarantee a nervous and very enticing swim even on the linear retrieve and at very low speeds and at the same time on jerkbaits it responds with obvious lateral jerks almost as if it were a jerkbait
instead of a metal jig; at high rod and sustained speed it is possible to make it swim just below the surface exploiting the eddies it will create as an additional source of attraction for predators. It is offered with a special single hook (Gàmu round hook) in place of the classic treble hook because it is a more reliable conformation against large marine predators. Excellent for use both from land and from the boat, it is suitable for searching for a large number of predators especially pelagic ones such as various tunnids, skipjack, amberjack and dolphinfish. It allows us to change the way of thinking, of fishing, of moving the rod and the reel crank, allowing us to manage the "life" of the artificial in complete autonomy. Its essential characteristics are: resistance to stranding, variable ballasting and movement system, maximum vitality and maneuverability of the artificial, possibility to probe with the same artificial any water layer while maintaining mobility and catching power both sinking and rising by flawlessly taking advantage of currents and obstacles, maximum control of vibrations and sounds, jerks and movements. With this way of fishing we will learn how to "knock" fish home by searching for them even in places and situations hitherto considered difficult or impossible, reducing the invasiveness and disturbance of the artificial on suspicious fish to the indispensable minimum, and in the same way, with simplicity and effectiveness, be irritating and intrusive when situations require it. Fully understanding this technique will allow us to deal with most predators both in fresh water and in the sea with simplicity and effectiveness, from bass to pike, from perch to torpedo, from bass to snapper and tuna.<br />It is an innovative technique that allows us to customize the silicon bait to the maximum until it becomes more natural than natural. At 115 mm long and weighing 13gr, this tapered slow sinking differs from other Mommotti in the shape of the paddle, which is visibly longer and more rounded. Thanks to studies on this paddle shape, the artificial not only holds the current well and works properly until the last stage of the retrieve, but achieves a very fast wagging swim with sharp vibrations. At the same time it responds well to jerk strokes and customizing, like its big brothers. Il miniketc, come tutti gli skipping lures, è un'esca molto divertente e adrenalinica che si lancia lontanissimo e va recuperata velocemente sulla superficie, facendola saltellare come un pesce in fuga. <h2><strong>SEASPIN TOTO 131</strong></h2> <div>Il buco che “buca”!!</div> <div>Concept and Design</div> <div>Il nome deriva da Antonio Crasà, Totò per gli amici, componente dello staff del marchio, che ha avuto la prima idea e ha realizzato il primo prototipo di legno da cui è partita tutta la fase di progettazione e di realizzazione del modello. Con la realizzazione di questo artificiale, proprio per la sua singolarità estetica, ma soprattutto per quanto di tecnico rappresenta, si alza di molto l’asticella della progettazione delle hard bait di ultima generazione. In questo caso lo studio di progettazione esce dallo schema naturalistico d’imitazioni di colori o forme simili al reale, per andare alla ricerca di nuovi profili e superfici che siano funzionali al movimento che si voglia l’artificiale abbia in acqua. In cosa consiste dunque tutta questa innovazione? Nell’utilizzo di una forma semplice ma che ha comportato più di due anni di studi e di test per collocarla correttamente e far sì che durante il nuoto crei forze complesse che causino azioni sorprendenti: un buco. Un semplice buco che comporta però un’importante innovazione nel mondo delle esche artificiali. Un buco che genera ovviamente delle vibrazioni diverse dal normale e che, per questo motivo, sono percepite dai pesci in maniera più efficace e che causa dei comportamenti in acqua molto interessanti difficilmente confrontabili con alcun altro popper in commercio. Un progettista può immaginare immediatamente quale importanza e quali forze si generano con la presenza stessa dell’anomalia di un foro nella parte posteriore del modello. Queste forze sono create dalla forma particolare e asimmetrica delle superfici che creano il foro e che interrompono i filetti di acqua che normalmente aderiscono ai fianchi e al corpo dell’artificiale durante il recupero. Per progettare correttamente le superfici, in particolare quelle nella zona intorno al buco, chiamiamola “camera del foro”, abbiamo deciso di utilizzare dei programmi dedicati alla meccanica strutturale e alla fluidodinamica che ci offrivano la possibilità di simulare varie configurazioni relative al comportamento strutturale dell’artificiale. Le due svasature laterali asimmetriche servono, infatti, a convogliare una quantità maggiore di aria e acqua nella zona in questione e, in collaborazione con le superfici curve di battuta, creano un attrito nella parte posteriore dell’artificiale e interagiscono continuamente nel nuoto del modello. Potremmo semplificare l’azione come un freno che tra le altre cose genera un caratteristico “brivido” a intervalli regolari durante l’azione di recupero che è veramente molto interessante. Oltre a questo, l’esca una volta entrata in acqua accumula, proprio all’interno del foro, una bolla d’aria che alleggerisce la parte posteriore favorendone lo scodinzolamento iniziale. Jerkando successivamente con energia, l’artificiale crea un tubo di bollicine, che si disperde nell’acqua, decisamente superiore a quello formato dai popper normali, sia per la presenza del surplus di aria trattenuto dal foro sia e soprattutto per la forte turbolenza che si crea all’interno del complesso sistema della “camera del foro”. Altra caratteristica causata dal freno posteriore, esaminato in precedenza, è l’arresto immediato dell’artificiale quando il pescatore interrompe il recupero. L’esca si ferma come durante la pausa di un video! Un’assenza totale di abbrivio. In generale l’artificiale si può descrivere come un popper “nuotatore che durante l’azione di recupero entra ed esce dall’acqua automaticamente senza che sia necessaria nessun’azione particolare con la canna da parte del pescatore. Recuperato linearmente, o alternato a brevi o lunghe jerkate, crea un tubo subacqueo di bollicine veramente impressionante intervallato da un caratteristico “brivido” dell’esca che entra autonomamente in vibrazione a intervalli regolari. Il Toto è perfetto anche se utilizzato a strappi da fermo per rompere la superficie e creare grandi schizzi sull’acqua. Lancio? Lontanissimo. Per quanto riguarda la camera del foro, che indubbiamente caratterizza tutta l’estetica dell’esca, sono state scelte delle specifiche colorazioni metallizzate, ma non riflettenti, per creare un’alternanza lucido/opaco durante il nuoto che ha sembra dato ottimi risultati in pesca. Nei modelli trasparenti questa diversa luminosità è causata dai flash ritmici dovuti alle diverse angolazioni della lamina interna metallizzata durante l’azione di rollio dell’esca. Vista la particolare resistenza delle ancorette è dedicato in particolare a serra, lecce e ricciole ma in generale a tutti i pesci della fascia mediterranea come barracuda e tunnidi di media taglia. In the retrieve it allows many customizations: it manages to guarantee a nervous and very enticing swim even on linear retrieve and at very low speeds and at the same time on jerk strokes it responds with obvious side jerks almost as if it were a jerk bait instead of a metal jig; at high rod and sustained speed it is possible to make it swim just below the surface exploiting the eddies it will create as an additional source of attraction for predators.<br />It is offered with a special single hook (Gàmu round hook) in place of the classic treble hook because it is a more reliable conformation against large marine predators. <h2><strong>SEASPIN LEPPA JIG 11</strong></h2> <div>After the 22, 33, 44 and 55, the small size of the very special jigs from the Sardinian company Seaspin could not be missing. Thus, Leppa 11 was born as an answer to all salt and freshwater casters who like to use light equipment to search for their favorite predators. The proportions and shape of the big brothers remain unchanged: that special "anatomy" that makes Leppa unique. The flattened and aerodynamic body with the center of gravity of the bait shifted to the rear make this jig a real "bullet" . Its swimming is nervous and wagging even on slow, linear retrieves, and the lure responds promptly to jerks by producing the classic "side to side" motion generally more common in classic jerk minnow. During the fall to the bottom the jig, thanks to its knife-like shape, leaves the vertical trajectory "exhibiting" a disorderly flicker, accentuated more by the refraction of light on the side of the lure formed by three planes slightly angled to each other. Precisely because of this feature we decided to arm the metal with a single assist (formed by a strong lanyard and a Gamu round Hook size #1) and specifically let's see why : 1 The assist hook is an additional moving element that creates interest in the predator's sight. 2 The "lightness" of the assist increases the probability of strike especially on predators that suck in the bait. 3 If the jig is used on the bottom the "lightness" of the assist hook averts unpleasant strandings. 4 The Gamu Hook facilitates and speeds up the unhooking stages by making it possible to release the prey. 5 The mobility of the assist hook completely negates any leverage or twisting effect that often causes the prey to dislodge. 6 The robustness of the assist hook makes a small bait like this perform well even on very large prey. Reading these characteristics, one can guess the many scenarios in which the Leppa 11 can be successfully employed: from the classic off-shore feeding ( so setters, horse mackerel, mackerel, walleye, tombarelli , lampugheye bonito etc etc etc) to the search for all those bottom fish such as paragus, gurnard, snapper, scorpionfish and tracine. But it is also excellent for baiting from the shore in the skimmers of the underwater sea bass, bream, saddled bream, greenhouse and barracuda. Thanks to its size, it also lends itself to use in fresh water : for example, let it fall to the bottom of a large lake in search of a real perch or let it flicker in the current of a stream ready to intrigue a beautiful trout on the prowl ! At 115 mm long and weighing 13gr, this tapered slow sinking differs from other Mommotti in the shape of the paddle, which is visibly longer and more rounded. Thanks to studies on this paddle shape, the artificial not only holds the current well and works properly until the last stage of the retrieve, but achieves a very fast wagging swim with sharp vibrations. At the same time it responds well to jerk strokes and customizing, like its big brothers. Basically, we have the perfect middle ground between the classic minnow and the modern long jerk, all in a format that makes it perfect for light spinning and light trolling, dedicated especially to bass, but also to walleye and, in principle, to all small and medium-sized marine predators.</p> <p>The Mommotti SS is also characterized by the choice of single hooks (Gàmu 1 in the belly and Gàmu 1/0 in the tail), which are the best response to the stranding and power of unexpected predators.
