<h2 style="text-align:left;" align="center"><strong>TRABUCCO SHINKEN HOOKS PINT - N.8</strong></h2> <p><strong>Fishing hooks play a fundamental role in the fishing system: they are the link between the fisherman and his prey.</strong></p> <p>They are a very ancient tool, used since the Stone Age. Initially the structure was made of wood, but this material was not suitable for the purpose for which it was intended; later it was improved through the use of animal bones, thorny plants and shells, up to the thorns of the hawthorn in some parts of Europe.</p> <p>The choice of fishing hooks must be based on the fish fauna present in the fishing spot, keeping in mind that it will not be the fisherman who will choose the prey that will be deceived by the bait.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Is it possible to make a selection of prey based on the fishing hooks used?</strong></p> <p>The answer is partly affirmative. Using fishing hooks of small size, all fish (big and small) will be allowed to feed, with the consequence of bringing to wade unwanted specimens. Using larger fish hooks will avoid catching all the fish that have a mouth apparatus that does not allow the ingestion of that type of bait. N.B. often you will witness the paradox of feeding specimens of really modest size with generous fish hooks: it is the mystery of fishing.</p> <p> </p> <p>The choice of the right fishing hooks is fundamental for the success of a fishing trip: <strong>how is it possible to choose the right hook</strong>?</p> <p>The development of technology has brought a considerable improvement of this component. If in the past it was considered essential to use fishing hooks with large size for the capture of important prey, today we are witnessing the opposite trend: the continuous updating of this small tool has allowed a considerable decrease in the size used, which, making possible a more natural movement of the bait, has made possible a greater number of bites. (In the Big Game it was unthinkable not to use at least 10/0 fish hooks; today, however, people prefer sizes ranging between 6/0 and 8/0)</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>The main factors that influence the choice of fishing hooks:</strong></p> <ul><li>- Fishing hooks with a <strong>paddle</strong> are used for prey that are not large in size, but, on the other hand, possess a very thin wire. A large diameter terminal does not allow knots on this type of hooks.</li> <li>- Fishing hooks with <strong>eyelet</strong> are used for the most combative prey because it is possible to use very strong knots for their insertion into the fishing system. The eye allows junctions with important terminals.</li> <li>- The <strong>curvature</strong> of the hook is important for two factors: the penetration inside the mouthparts of the prey; the use of bait with larger dimensions</li> <li>- The <strong>wriggling</strong>, which is the presence of a difference in level between the tip of the hook and the shank (this is what allows us to define a "crooked" hook). In order to evaluate if a hook is crooked, it is enough to put it on a flat surface and notice if the tip is pointing up or down.</li> <li>- The<strong>self-ferring hook</strong> is characterized by the "G" shape and it is used for the fishing of remarkable specimens that, following the bite, make a sudden escape. They do not require the ferrata by the fisherman.</li> <li>- The<strong>non-self-fertilizing hook</strong>, following the biting of the fish, will be pinned slightly inside the mouth of the prey: a strong shoeing will be necessary to ensure a good fight.</li> <li>- A <strong>long shank hook</strong> is preferable to bait worms, earthworms and other elongated baits. The downside is the fact that excessive shank length results in a lower angle of penetration into the fish's mouthparts.</li> <li>A <strong>short shank hook</strong> will generally be preferable in fights with big preys for the better penetration inside the mouth. It is not recommended for the baiting of worms and annelids because it would ruin the bait in a short time.</li> <li>- The <strong>size</strong> of the hook to be used is based on a double choice: a bait with important dimensions naturally requires a hook of generous size; a prey with a small mouth does not allow the use of hooks too large.</li> <li>- The <strong>wire of the hook</strong> must be balanced to the type of prey and the type of bait. Vi sono produttori che assicurano l'eccellenza del loro prodotto, esaltandone le qualità di resistenza all'abrasione e il rapporto tra diametro e carico di rottura. Valutate sempre la scelta in funzione del tipo di pesca che volete praticare. Non avrebbe senso cercare di insidiareil grongo su un fondale molto accidentato con una lenza da 7 chilogrammi, perchè se il filo non si spezza al primo ostacolo che incontra sul fondale, ci penserà il grongo non appena abbocca. Prima di acquistare la lenza valutate quindi le condizioni cui andrete incontro. Stabilito il carico di rottura più adatto, orientateviverso un prodotto di marca.</p> <p>Le lenze per la pesca da riva sono dotate di un diverso grado di resistenza alla rottura a seconda della specie che si intende insidiare e al tipo di fondale su cui si agisce. In generale, per pescare dalle spiaggie aperte si utilizzano una lenza madre da 6,8-8 chilogrammi e un finale da 22-27 chilogrammi. Per pescare su fondali accidentati occorre invece scegliere una lenza madre di maggiore resistenza, fino a 15 chilogrammi, atta a superare indenne gli ostacoli che può incontrare lungo il suo percorso. Per insidiare il branzino con plughi o spinners conviene invece scegliere una lenza leggera, da 4-5 chilogrammi, che garantisce un comportamento più naturale dell'esca e la possibilità di effettuare lanci più lunghi e più fluidi.</p> <p>Se si devono applicare dei pesi è importante inoltre usare uno shock leader, cioè un tratto di filo più pesante legato al termine della lenza madre, di solito in materiale fluorescente giallo o arancio per risultare meglio visibile quando viene recuperato durante battute di pesca notturna o in condizioni di cattivo tempo.
