However, we tend to recommend inflatable lifejackets only for children 6 or 7 years and older, which is an age when the child may swim little and move around the boat with relative freedom of movement. An inflatable life jacket is ideal for a child who is already familiar with life on board and reasonably aware of danger; less cumbersome than a foam jacket, it contributes to a child's better freedom of movement and can therefore have a positive effect on his or her involvement on board.</p> <p align="left"></p> <p align="left">- For toddlers, and indeed most children, we still recommend the traditional floating foam life jacket: your child is literally "bundled up" in a protective shell.
