La cima è del tipo ibrido, cioe' dotata di vettino in carbonio pieno innestato e incollato sul portacima tubolare, così da risultare estremamente sensibile sulle toccate e durante il recupero del pesce, durante il quale si percepisce molto bene il movimento della preda. Il fusto in Carbonio CX-1 è equipaggiato con anelli a doppio gambo MN SIC , resistenti alla salsedine. Ma non basta: la nuova serie Maxxis Hyper Surf offre molto di più, a partire dal perfetto rapporto volumetrico che contrappone il corpo compatto ad una bobina generosa, destinata a gestire la lenza in scioltezza con il suo ampio diametro, il profilo conico e il sottile bordo superiore. Disporre le spire di lenza con precisione impeccabile è compito della vite senza fine, che genera un moto di oscillazione rallentato rispetto alla norma; la migliore premessa per uno sbobinamento veloce e pulito, in altre parole un lancio perfetto, è un imbobinamento altrettanto regolare, e in questo il Maxxis non ha nulla da invidiare a nessun altro mulinello. La manovella è sagomata per avvicinare il suo baricentro a quello del mulinello, limitando le oscillazioni nel corso del recupero.
