Fixed rod fishing is among the simplest and most popular techniques, although it allows limited range. It is practiced where piers or reefs face deeper or shallower water. The rods used can be the same as those used in fresh water, as long as they are sturdy and have somewhat stiff topsides. Lines will be thin (0.10-0.12), preferably bluish or otherwise dark. Hooks of 10-14, depending on the fish available in the area. Various types of fish that can be caught such as bream, Mormoras, bream and Bogheye.
